Not really, Tower Records wasn't working because they didn't move online with their catalogue quickly enough. The commercial real estate is getting way overpriced.
Else why is Virgin Megastore and HMV still around?
HMVs have been closed across the US, and even some Virgins have shut their doors.
I think Tower was just the first in line, not the exception to the rule...

I was expecting iLife and iWork 07, but I am not overly disappointed that it wasn't mentioned.
I am, however, pretty upset that there was no mention of Leopard. I wasn't expecting a release today, but maybe even a release date.
The iPhone is amazing and shows how much Apple is ahead of the game, but I have no use for a phone. It would be cool if the next iPod had the same features, sans phone capability, especially Google Maps, because I never know where the hell I'm going.
I wasn't expecting any updates to the portable lines or iMacs, or even the iPod really.
The main focus of my excitement for today was Leopard, and not even a single mention! I'm glad they're not pushing it out before it's ready, but jeez!

Every time there's a patent or copyright article and people go off the deep end calling these companies crazy/evil, etc, I wish the article would indicate the fact that they are actually required to do so or risk losing their patent/trademarks. Doesn't even matter if they want to or not.
Why would the article indicate that ? You do not risk losing patents by not suing over them. That's only applicable to trademarks.

this move was expected. I do not understand why some iPhone owners expect to be treated any differently than owners of other phones. Because they "want" to upgrade their phone every year? What if Apple starts releasing new model every 6 months? Will you demand ATT to pay for this?

It's an OK update but I'm kinda disappointed was expecting much more. There are other Twitter clients out there with more features. I'll give them the map though.. thats nice.

i would think 'yes' and 'yes'. more ram will make everything work better, but i also saw a huge improvement moving to a better/faster video card.
ask zen about his card since he is still up and running everyday. i used a pc ATI 9800 and flashed it, then installed a super quiet arctic-cooling aftermarket rig, worked like magic on everything from desktop to 'eye candy' to internet.
you know, you're going to need to post pictures of this thing at some point, or it didn't happen... ;) best of luck.

After installing Disctop, your inserted CD or DVD slides in from the side and neatly fades back into your desktop picture. Pretty awful thing to do - it's like when people leave their dogs in the car on a hot day - even with the windows rolled down they can still die from the heat sadly. Luckily from the looks of it here the baby wasn't left that long to cause that much harm, but it could've been worse. That guy deserves to be arrested imo.
